Beth Ahavah

Serves Philadelphia and the greater Delaware Valley's GLBT Jewish community and welcomes people of all gender and sexual identities. Since 1975, BA has provided a comfortable place for people of all sexual orientations and religious affiliations to experience Judaism. In July 2007 Beth Ahavah affiliated with Congregation Rodeph Shalom. Beth Ahavah retains its congregational status within the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and its membership in the World Congress of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Jews: Keshet Ga'avah. Beth Ahavah proudly offers its congregation dual membership at both Beth Ahavah and Rodeph Shalom.

LGBT Civil Rights, Marriage Equality and Our Advocacy
We welcome Ted Martin, Executive Director of Equality Pennsylvania, the state’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) political advocacy organization to Rodeph Shalom on Wednesday, June 5 at 5pm.   Martin began his career as a Legislative Assistant and the Deputy Chief of Staff of a subcommittee of the Education and Labor Committee of the US House of Representatives. Subsequently he worked in the field of architectural preservation, communications and marketing.   In 2011, Martin was named a Person of the Year by the Philadelphia Gay News.  He and his husband, Dwayne, reside in Camp Hill outside of Harrisburg and were married on June 19, 2008 in La Jolla, California.
