Make a Difference - Volunteer for An Hour

Volunteer to be a Mentor . . . It’s a Mitzvah! Join the MENTOR training session with Marciene Mattleman on Monday, October 1st - 10:00am at RS (Please RSVP for this training session - Sharon Spinrad at 215-735-0797 or sfspinrad@aol.com.)
We will act as mentors to Kearny’s students, assisting them not only in reading, but other subjects as well. Kearny’s Principal feels we will be even more successful if we go in during school hours, rather than at the end of the day, when students are often inattentive. Our volunteers will each “adopt” one student, and spend an hour each week with that child, developing a strong relationship of trust and mutual respect. This concentrated time with one individual will elevate the students’ self confidence and allow them to become more receptive to learning.

MANNA
MANNA provides nutritious meals and nutrition counseling to all who are homebound and living with HIV/AIDS in the Greater Philadelphia area. We provide three meals a day, Monday-Friday, for approximately 2000 people. There are volunteer opportunities available in the kitchen, distribution, delivery as well as helping out at special events and holidays.
If you are interested in volunteering for any and/or all of the listings below, please call Estelle Maisel 215-722-2857.

For People In Cancer Treatment
There are no other programs in the Philadelphia area offering direct nutritional support to individuals undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments. MANNA will now deliver palliative diets to them. Call if you wish to deliver these meals or if you wish to add a person’s name to the list of 64 people now receiving these meals.
Kids Care For MANNA!
Students who wish to create their masterpiece artworks will have the artwork exhibited at the Woodmere Museum in Chestnut Hill. After the exhibit, the works of art will be transported to MANNA and distributed as holiday gifts along with the holiday meals to MANNA clients. Call Estelle Maisel at 215-722-2857 for deadlines and details.
