Our Youngest Students (below age 5) Tot ShabbatWe welcome our children at Rodeph Shalom starting with birth. We commonly see infants at Tot Shabbat and our children continue to grow together on Shabbat mornings until they reach the Pre Kindergarten year. For more information about Tot Shabbat click here. Play Group for Young Children Join us on select Sundays for Tot Playgroup. Children ages 4 and younger enjoy food, fun, art and play! This is especially convenient for Tots with siblings in Mercaz Limud. Rishonim (Pre Kindergarten) We welcome students who reach age 4 before September 1 into our Mercaz Limud program in a limited and introductory fashion. We calls this class Rishonim (which literally means "firsts"). These students attend Sunday mornings about once every three weeks. They have a dedicated teacher and unlike the regular Mercaz Limud students they circulate a little bit less throughout the building. This is a great way for both children and parents to get used to the environment on Sunday mornings and to begin building friendships that will last a lifetime. The students focus on learning about Shabbat while also receiving enrichment from all of our specialists in the Mercaz Limud Program. They also attend morning services (with parents) and begin to find comfort in the sanctuary and prayerbook. Lastly, our rabbis are an important part of all that we do on Sunday mornings, and the Rishonim class begins to meet the rabbis through informal visits and conversations.
